Full Humanoid Robots

Roboy is a series of musculoskeletal Robots developed since 2012. Junior and 2.0 are unique, whereas 3.0 was a twin from the start.

ROBOY JUNIOR (2013)

Developed by the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory in Zurich by a team around famous roboticist Prof. Rolf Pfeifer and released in 2013, Junior laid the foundation of the Roboy Series. Its cute appearance made it the beloved robot it is, next step was to make it more agile.

ROBOY 2.0 (2018)

More tech, but bigger: Developed by Devanthro & students at Technical University of Munich, Roboy 2.0, was born in spring 2018. It integrated the results from the Myorobotics Research project, turning Roboy into a modular musculoskeletal research platform.

ROBOY 3.0 (2020)

The best of both and more: Roboy 3.0 developed on the iconic looks of the first Roboy, but builds on a completely new technology platform that was prototyped in 2.0. Released in autumn 2020, it is intended as a telepresence platform – letting users become the robot.

PARTIAL & EXPERIMENTAL ROBOTS

MYOARM (2014)

A first arm built with Myorobotics components, MyoArm was the first modular musculoskeletal Arm. It was used for many theses and papers. A beautiful arm.

MYOArm2 (2017)

A first mixture of Roboy Junior and Myorobotics was MyoArm2, specifically built for a partner university, this robot was a stepping stone towards Roboy 2.0.

PABIROBOY (2017)

Inspired by RoMeLa’s NABi, we built a tendon-driven version of it: PABiRoboy. A first application of the myorobotics MyoMuscles towards Roboy 2.0 aside of arms.

MYOELBOW (2017)

Built as a simple demonstrator, this arm was used in the Human Brain Project for motion learning and the MSc. thesis of Alona.

ROBOY MUSC (2018)

An evolution of MyoArm, the MuscArm was built for the University of Oxford’s Botnar Research Center
